Key takeaways
- A med spa is a storefront: keep the address visible and verify the location patients actually walk into.
- Match the profile name, suite number and hours to your door sign before you film anything.
- Film one continuous take with no patients, charts or open schedules in frame.
- After verification, keep owner access in your name and make large edits one at a time.
To verify a Google Business Profile for a med spa, you verify the treatment location patients walk into, not a service area. A med spa is a storefront: the address stays visible, and Google most often asks for a video proving your signage, treatment rooms and management are real. Mobile visits can be added as a service area on top.
Verifying a storefront location
A med spa verifies as a storefront, so the address on the profile must be the door patients use, and everything Google can see has to agree with it. Google checks that a real business operates where the profile says it does (Google's verification help). For a clinic that means three things match before you start:
- The name. The profile name is the name on your exterior sign, with no treatments or towns added. "[Your Name] Aesthetics" passes. "[Your Name] Aesthetics Botox Filler Laser" invites a rejection.
- The address and suite. Many med spas sit in a retail strip, a medical office building or a salon suite complex. Put the suite number in the address exactly as it appears on your lease and the building directory.
- The hours. Profile hours match the hours on the door and the hours your scheduler takes bookings.
If you share space, such as a room inside a salon or a dermatology office, your own name needs to be on a permanent sign patients can see. Without it, the video has nothing to show.
Never hide the address of a clinic patients visit, and never verify a home address where no one is treated. If your injectors also see patients at home or at events, you are a hybrid business: keep the address showing and add the areas you travel to (Google's service-area rules).
Which profile type to verify
Do customers come to your address?
- Yes Storefront profile Show the address customers visit Your business
- No Service-area profile Hide the address, set the area you serve
- Both Address and service area If customers visit and you also travel
Verification steps
- Fix the basics first. Name, suite, phone and hours should match your sign, your website and your booking software before you request verification. A mismatch you correct after filming means filming again.
- Pick a quiet time. Film before the first appointment or after close, when no patients are in the building and the front desk is clear.
- Plan one continuous take. Rehearse the route once, then record without stopping. A good med spa sequence runs: the street and a nearby landmark, the building entrance, your exterior or suite sign, you unlocking the door, the front desk with branded materials, one treatment room with its chair and a device such as your laser, and a business document such as your license or a utility bill showing the name and address.
- Keep patients and records out of frame. No patient faces, no charts and no screen showing your Boulevard or Zenoti schedule with names on it. Point the camera at rooms and equipment, not at the work in progress.
- Submit and leave the profile alone. Review can take several business days. Do not edit the name, categories or hours while it is pending.
- If it comes back rejected, fix and refilm. Read the reason, correct the mismatch, and record a cleaner take that shows the missing piece.
Why verification fails
Verification fails when the video or the profile tells Google a different story from the street. The common med spa versions:
| What happened | Why Google rejects it | The fix |
|---|---|---|
| Treatments added to the business name | The name must match real-world branding | Rename to the sign, then refilm |
| No suite number, or the building sign shows another business | Google can't tie the space to you | Add the suite and show your own sign at the suite door |
| The take starts inside | Nothing proves the location | Start outside with the street and the entrance in view |
| Several clips stitched together | It has to be one continuous recording | Rehearse, then shoot one take |
| Filmed during appointments | You end up cutting away or rushing | Film when the clinic is empty |
| A home or virtual office used as the address | Patients aren't treated there | Verify the clinic where treatments happen |
If verification turns into a suspension, the reinstatement guide for med spas covers the appeal (Google's suspension help).
Protecting the profile afterward
Treat the verified profile as the front door it is: change it slowly and keep the keys in your name. Most damage to a med spa profile comes from people with access, not from Google.
- Ownership stays with the business. You, or a partner, are the primary owner. Your agency and front desk lead are managers on their own logins, never on a shared password.
- Remove access when people leave. When an injector or manager moves on, take them off the profile the same week.
- Decide on practitioner listings up front. Google's guidelines allow listings for individual practitioners in some cases and set rules for them (Google's guidelines). Agree in writing what happens to any provider listing at your address if that provider leaves.
- Space out large edits. Rebrands, moves and category changes each deserve their own week. The category guide covers which ones fit.
- Check public edits monthly. Anyone can suggest changes to your hours or phone number. Catch them before a patient drives to a closed door.
- Keep a proof folder. License, lease, utility bill and current photos of the sign and rooms, so the next check takes minutes.
- Plan moves around your season. A new address means a new verification. Schedule it away from wedding season and the New Year resolution rush.
How VETS Growth Marketing helps
We line up the name, suite, hours and evidence, plan the shot list with you so no patient information is on camera, and handle the resubmission if Google asks for more. The profile stays in your Google account with you as primary owner, and we track calls and bookings from it once it is live. Bring your current status to a growth consultation and we will tell you what we would fix before you film.
