Key takeaways
- A pressure washing company without a storefront verifies as a service-area business: real address, hidden from the public, with the areas you wash listed.
- Verification is usually a single continuous video in the Google Maps app, so plan the shot before you press record.
- Film the wrapped truck or trailer, the street, the pressure washer and soft wash setup, and something only the owner can do, such as unlocking the rig.
- Most rejections come from a name that does not match the truck, a cut-together video, or an address that looks like a mailbox.
To verify a Google Business Profile as a service-area pressure washing company, set the profile up with the real address you run the business from, hide that address, and list the areas your rig covers. Then expect to record a video in the Google Maps app that shows the business, the equipment and your control of both.
Can a pressure washing company verify without a storefront
Yes. Google expects businesses that work at the customer's property to verify as service-area businesses, and most pressure washing outfits fit that description exactly (service-area setup). You wash the customer's siding, roof and driveway. Nobody drives to you.
The address you give Google is where the business really operates: your home, or a shop or yard where the trailer lives and the chemicals are stored. It is used for verification and for working out distance, and it does not appear on the profile once hidden. What you cannot use is an address that is not really yours to work from, such as a mailbox store or a virtual office (Google's guidelines).
Pressure washing has one advantage here. Your equipment is big, specific and easy to film. A skid unit on a trailer, a surface cleaner and a soft wash tank say "pressure washing company" more clearly than any document.
Which profile type to verify
Do customers come to your address?
- Yes Storefront profile Show the address customers visit
- No Service-area profile Hide the address, set the area you serve Your business
- Both Address and service area If customers visit and you also travel
Verification steps
- Set the name to match the truck. Use the exact name on your trailer wrap, door decals, invoices and business registration. Leave out service words and towns that are not part of the legal or branded name.
- Choose service-area setup. Enter the address, hide it, and list the towns or ZIP codes where you actually take jobs. Choose Pressure washing service as the primary category.
- Gather your proof first. Business registration or license, a utility bill or lease in the business name, and your insurance certificate. Keep them on your phone and on paper.
- Plan the shot before you record. Walk the route once without filming. Decide where you start, what you point the camera at and in what order. The table below shows what to include.
- Record one continuous take in the Google Maps app when it asks. Do not stop and restart, and do not edit the clip. Keep it steady and well lit.
- Submit and leave the profile alone. Review can take several business days (verification). Do not change the name, category or areas while you wait.
What to show on camera, in one take:
| What Google needs to see | The pressure washing version |
|---|---|
| Where you are | The street sign or a nearby landmark, then the house or yard where the rig is parked |
| Branding | The trailer wrap or truck door with the business name and phone number |
| Equipment | The pressure washer or skid unit, hose reels, surface cleaner, soft wash pump and chemical tanks |
| Proof you manage it | Unlocking the trailer or truck box, then a business document with the name on it |
If you verify in the off-season, film the equipment where it is stored. A winterized skid in a garage is still your equipment.
Why verification fails
Verification usually fails because something on camera or in the profile does not match. Reviewers compare the name, the address and what they see. These are the mismatches that catch pressure washing companies most often:
- The name has extras. "Soft Wash and Power Washing Pros" on the profile, "Pro Exterior Cleaning" on the trailer. Match the trailer.
- Nothing is branded. An unmarked pickup and a borrowed trailer prove nothing. Magnetic door signs are better than none, but a permanent wrap or decal shows the business is established.
- The video is in pieces. Clips stitched together, or a recording that stops and starts, look like they could have been filmed anywhere.
- Equipment without location. Twenty seconds of close-ups on the pump, and no street, no landmark, no house.
- The address looks borrowed. A mailbox store, a coworking desk or a relative's address you never work from.
- There is already a profile. A former partner, an old business name or a lead vendor created one years ago. Find and claim it rather than starting another.
If a rejection turns into a suspension, the reinstatement guide for pressure washing companies covers the appeal (suspensions).
Protecting the profile afterward
Keep the profile as steady as the business behind it. Many profile problems start with a well-meant edit months after verification.
- Stay the primary owner. Add employees and any agency as managers, never as owners. If a vendor set the profile up, transfer ownership to yourself.
- Edit slowly. Change one thing at a time, days apart. A new name, category and phone number in one afternoon invites a fresh review, often in April when you can least afford it.
- Keep the name tied to the brand. If you rebrand, change the trailer, invoices and registration first, then the profile.
- Keep a proof folder. Registration, insurance, a utility bill and recent photos of the branded rig, ready for the next check.
- Watch for changes you did not make. Suggested edits from the public can alter hours or categories. Check the profile every few weeks in season.
Once the profile is live, pick categories with care. The category guide explains which ones fit.
