Key takeaways
- A useful consultation diagnoses before it prescribes, tracing each symptom back to the profile, the website, the ads or the follow-up.
- For a dog daycare the diagnosis follows the dog: the search, the evaluation, the first package and the renewal.
- You leave with five ranked moves, each with an owner and a date, and you keep them whether or not you hire us.
- Bring a year of reports from Gingr or your pet care software and view access to your Google accounts.
A marketing consultant for a dog daycare should diagnose before prescribing. Our free growth consultation follows a dog's path through your business: the search that found you, the evaluation, the first package and the renewal. It finds where owners drop out, and you leave with the five moves that would add the most new members.
What a growth consultation covers
It covers every stage from an owner's first search to their dog's twentieth visit, because a daycare earns its money on attendance that repeats, not on the first day.
- Getting found. Your Google Business Profile categories, photos of the yards and suites, review flow and holiday hours, and whether you appear for boarding searches as well as daycare (Google's ranking factors).
- The first contact. What happens to a call at the height of morning drop-off, how fast a web inquiry gets a reply, and whether an owner can book the evaluation without waiting for a callback.
- The evaluation. How many booked evaluations show up, how many dogs pass, and how many owners buy a package afterward.
- Retention. Package renewals, members who drifted away, and boarding guests who were never offered weekday daycare.
- Paid traffic. Whether your Google and Meta campaigns count evaluations and new members, or any form fill at all (Google's conversion help).
Owners usually arrive with a symptom. The work is finding what sits under it, and in this business the cause is often one layer down from where you would look.
Example diagnosis. A daycare has a holiday boarding waitlist and quiet Mondays and Fridays. The owner believes it needs more ads. The attendance report shows weekday demand is strong midweek, and the evaluation numbers are healthy. The hidden layer is the package menu: it sells five-day weeks, while many new members work three days in the office. They buy single days, skip Monday and Friday, and drift off. The fix is a two- or three-day package and a reason to come on the quiet days, not a bigger ad budget.
What happens in the session
- Confirm your goal For example revenue growth or new locations
- Review what you run now Google profile, website, ads and follow-up, live
- Your five next moves In order, with rough timelines
- Decide what happens next If we are a fit we say so. If not, you keep the plan.
What you leave with
You leave with five ranked moves, each with an owner, an outcome and a date, and they are yours whether or not you hire us. The ranking is the value. Most daycares have twenty things they could fix, and the order decides whether the work lands before summer boarding fills or after it.
Here is what a plan can look like, as an example:
| Move | Owner | By when | How you will know it worked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Text back every call missed during drop-off and pick-up | Front desk lead | Two weeks | Missed calls that become evaluations |
| Let owners book the evaluation online, linked from the Google profile | Manager | Before back-to-office season | Evaluations booked outside opening hours |
| Remind members when a package has two days left | Owner, in Gingr | One month | Packages renewed per week |
| Add a three-day package and a puppy social on Fridays | Owner | Next quarter | Monday and Friday attendance |
| Invite last year's holiday boarders before dates open to everyone | Manager | Eight weeks before the holidays | Repeat boarding bookings |
Some moves pay off within weeks, such as the text-back. Others, such as new pages that need to rank, take months, and the plan says which is which.
Who runs it
Trevor Shirk, who founded VETS Growth Marketing, leads the diagnosis himself. He is a U.S. Army veteran and a former Ranger-qualified engineer officer, with more than ten years in digital marketing and business strategy.
In practice the session runs on your reports and your accounts. He follows the numbers from search to renewal, finds the stage where the most owners fall away, and tells you plainly what he would fix first and what he would leave alone.
How to prepare
- Export a year from Gingr or your pet care software. New customers by month, evaluations booked and passed, and how many bought a first package.
- Pull attendance by weekday. Average dogs per day for each weekday, and boarding occupancy across summer travel and the holidays.
- List the members who stopped coming. Dogs with no visit in the last two months, with any reason you know: a move, a new job, an owner now working from home.
- Know your real capacity. The most dogs you can take per day at your staff ratio, and how many runs or suites you have. Marketing should fill spots you can actually staff.
- Grant view access, not passwords. Add us as a user on your Google Business Profile, Google Ads, Meta and Google Analytics (Analytics setup help). You can remove access the same day.
- Name the bottleneck you feel. Too few inquiries, too few evaluations, members who do not renew, or not enough staff. Say it plainly and we start there.
The growth strategy page for dog daycares explains how a full engagement runs, and the repeat-customer guide goes deeper on renewals.
How VETS Growth Marketing helps
If you want the plan carried out, each of the five moves becomes its own project with an outcome and a finish date, done inside accounts that stay in your name. Nothing ties you in beyond the project in front of you. Progress is reported in the same numbers the diagnosis started from, evaluations and new members each month, so you can see whether it held up. Book a growth consultation and bring the reports above.
