Key takeaways
- The consultation is a diagnosis of your Google profile, website, ads and follow-up, not a sales pitch.
- You leave with your five highest-impact next moves, in order, whether or not you hire us.
- It is founder-led, not run by a sales rep.
- Bring last season's rentals by source and size from Docket or your CRM, plus access to your Google profile and ad accounts.
A marketing consultant for a dumpster rental company should be able to tell you, in one sitting, why cans are sitting in the yard in May. Our free growth consultation does that. We review your Google profile, website, ads and follow-up, find what is holding back rentals, and you leave with the five moves that would add the most booked rentals.
What a growth consultation covers
It covers the four places a dumpster rental company gains or loses a rental: the Google profile, the website, the ads and the follow-up. We test before we recommend anything, the way a good mechanic checks the truck before replacing parts.
| Area | What we check in a dumpster rental business |
|---|---|
| Google profile | Primary category, service areas that match your delivery zones, a name that matches the truck doors, photos of your own cans, and anything that puts the listing at risk of suspension (how local ranking works) |
| Website | Whether a homeowner on a phone can see sizes, the rental period, the weight allowance and what cannot go in the can, then book or call without hunting |
| Ads | The search terms you pay for, including job seekers and people shopping for a used dumpster, areas and hours you cannot serve, and whether "conversions" are booked rentals or just clicks (Google on conversion measurement) |
| Follow-up | How fast quote requests get a reply, what happens to a call missed while a driver is on route, and whether last season's contractors hear from you before spring |
We also look at where last season's rentals actually came from, so the diagnosis rests on your numbers rather than a template.
What happens in the session
- Confirm your goal For example revenue growth or new locations
- Review what you run now Google profile, website, ads and follow-up, live
- Your five next moves In order, with rough timelines
- Decide what happens next If we are a fit we say so. If not, you keep the plan.
What you leave with
You leave with your five highest-impact next moves, ranked, with what each should change and how soon you should see it. The list is yours whether you hire us or not, and plenty of owners do the first two themselves.
Here is an example of what a list can look like for a roll-off operator. It is illustrative, not a client's plan:
- Rename the Google profile to match the trucks and remove the town from the name.
- Add a page for each can size with the rental period, tons included and banned items, and point the ads at it.
- Turn on a text-back for calls missed on route days.
- Add negative keywords for driver jobs, dumpster sales and free-dumpster searches.
- Message last season's roofers and remodelers in late winter with a link to book their first swap.
Each move gets an owner and a date. That turns a meeting into a plan you can check against.
Who runs it
The consultation is founder-led, not run by a sales rep. Trevor Shirk, the founder, is a U.S. Army veteran and a former Ranger-qualified engineer officer. He has spent more than ten years in digital marketing and business strategy.
The point of a founder-led diagnosis is accountability. The person who reads your accounts is the person who stands behind the plan. If the honest answer is that your marketing is fine and the real problem is quotes going unanswered until the next morning, that is what you will hear.
How to prepare
Bring a handful of numbers and logins. A little gathering beforehand makes the diagnosis specific to your yard.
- Last season's rentals by source. Export them from Docket or your field service CRM: rentals by month, by size and by lead source, with homeowners and contractors split out.
- Your can count. How many cans you own in each size, and roughly how many sat unused during the peak weeks.
- Spend by channel. What you spent each month on Google Ads, Local Services Ads, directories or lead services, and manager access to those accounts or a screen share.
- Google Business Profile access. Manager access, plus any suspension, verification or "edits under review" emails.
- Your website login, or the name of whoever hosts it and owns the domain.
- The one bottleneck you feel most. Calls missed on route days, quotes that go cold, contractors who drifted to another hauler, or empty cans in the shoulder months.
If you want a head start on the thinking, the guide to getting more customers for dumpster rental companies walks through the main levers.
How VETS Growth Marketing helps
If you want us to carry out the plan, we scope each move as a project with an outcome and a date, do the work inside accounts that stay in your name, and report in booked rentals and cost per rental rather than clicks. If you would rather run it yourself, the plan is still yours to keep. Book a growth consultation and bring last season's numbers.
