Key takeaways
- Tattoo removal research is question-heavy, so AI Overviews appear on many of the searches that come before a consultation.
- Pages that answer one question honestly, with the variables that change the answer, are the ones worth being cited.
- There is no special markup for AI Overviews. Accurate profiles, clear pages and standard structured data are what Google documents.
- Search Console does not report AI Overview traffic separately, so track consultations from organic search instead.
AI SEO for a tattoo removal clinic means making your website the source Google's AI Overviews quote when someone asks how many sessions removal takes, whether colored ink comes out, or what fading for a cover-up involves. Those questions come weeks before the consultation call. The clinic whose answers get cited is often the clinic that gets that call.
What AI Overviews change
AI Overviews change the research phase, not the moment of booking. A tattoo removal client researches more than most local customers: the tattoo has been on their skin for years, the decision is personal, and the trigger (a new job, a breakup, a cover-up plan) gives them time to read before they act. Many of those reading searches now get a generated answer at the top of the page, with links to the sources it drew from (Google on AI features).
Here is how the main kinds of search split:
| What the person searches | What they see first | What your clinic needs |
|---|---|---|
| "how many sessions to remove a tattoo" | An AI answer, with cited sources | A page that explains the variables honestly |
| "does laser tattoo removal hurt" | An AI answer | A provider-reviewed page on what a session feels like and how your clinic handles comfort |
| "tattoo removal vs cover-up" | An AI answer | A page on fading before a cover-up, written with the artists you work with |
| "tattoo removal cost" | An AI answer and local results | Published price ranges by size and how packages work |
| "tattoo removal near me" | The Map Pack | A complete Google Business Profile and steady reviews |
The near-me search still runs on Maps. The first four are where AI Overviews decide whose name the client has already seen.
What AI Overviews draw on
AI Overviews Google's summary above the results
- Helpful pages That answer the question plainly
- An accurate profile Business details that match everywhere
- Consistent listings The same facts on every directory
- Valid structured data Describing what is on the page
Content that gets cited
Run this as a content plan, one page or section a week:
- List the questions clients ask in consultations. Ask your front desk and providers for the ten questions they answer most. These beat any keyword tool, because they are the client's own words.
- Answer each in the first two sentences. Then explain the variables: ink colors, how deep and dense the ink is, skin type, tattoo age, and the interval your provider sets between sessions. Say that the count is set at the consultation.
- Add what only your clinic knows. Describe how your consultation works, what a first session looks like, how your packages are structured, and how you coordinate with tattoo artists on cover-up fading.
- Have your provider review it. Anything about pain, healing, scarring or results should be accurate and should not promise outcomes. Google's guidance favors content written by people with real experience (Google on helpful content).
- Show real, consented results. Before-and-after photos with the session count and ink colors stated, chosen to show typical progress rather than only your best case.
- Link the pages together. Each answer page should link to the consultation booking page and to the related questions.
Write for the reader first. A page that hedges every sentence will not be cited, and a page that promises "gone in three sessions" should not be.
Schema and consistency
Structured data helps Google read your clinic's facts reliably, but Google documents no special markup for AI Overviews (Google on AI features). Treat it as hygiene, not a trick.
- LocalBusiness markup on your site with the same name, address, phone and hours as your Google Business Profile (local business structured data).
- One set of facts everywhere. Your website, Google profile, Bing and Apple listings and any directory pages should agree on hours, address, services and whether consultations are free.
- Services stated plainly. If you offer laser tattoo removal, fading for cover-ups and multi-session packages, each should be named on your site and listed on your profile, in the same words.
- Prices consistent. If your site says one range and a directory says another, an AI answer may repeat the wrong one.
Consistency matters because AI answers pull from several sources at once. A stale directory listing with old hours can end up in the answer next to your own page.
Measuring visibility
You cannot measure AI Overview traffic directly. Google does not report it separately in Search Console, so measure the things around it (Search Console):
- Search Console impressions and clicks for your question pages. Rising impressions with flat clicks can mean the answer is being shown on the results page itself.
- A monthly manual check. Search your ten consultation questions in a private window and note whether your clinic is cited.
- Consultations by source. Ask "how did you find us?" at booking, and tag organic search in your booking platform or CRM.
- Branded searches. More people searching your clinic's name is a sign they met it somewhere earlier, often in an answer.
For assistants beyond Google, see getting recommended by ChatGPT. The keyword guide lists the searches that come before a booking.
How VETS Growth Marketing helps
We turn the questions your providers answer every day into provider-reviewed pages, keep your clinic's facts identical across the web, and add the structured data Google documents. The content plan ships on a schedule, usually a page a week, on a website and profiles registered to your clinic. Our reports track impressions on those pages and consultations booked from organic search, because AI Overview clicks cannot be isolated. Book a growth consultation and we will check which of your clients' questions already cite a competitor.
